From L'Etoile at La Bastide-Puylaurent, walk towards the centre of the village, then go back up towards the post office and the stadium following the red and white markings of the GR®72 and the GR®700 untill you reach Villefort. Return to La Bastide-Puylaurent by taking the train at Villefort (SNCF timetable).

At the entry of Thort is a dolmen to which the legend attributes the origin of Gargantua who, to play, would have thrown this rock all the way from La Garde-Guerin. In the adjacent wood, we have found shards of tiles and Galo-roman relics of ovens which where used to reduce iron ore, as well as the scoria which came from the ore: the wind always blows on that narrow crest, therfor these ovens where provided with an excellent ventilation. At that point, we cross the watershed line between Atlantic and Mediterranean at the height of 1133 metres. The Regordane Way crosses a schist slab in which has been carved a road from the XVIIIth century. 4m wide, it is marqued by two ruts of 1,20 meters wide, done by the last wains used in the region, and on the right, several pairs of deep ruts, on the 1,40 metre lane, which would have been carved by the vehicules of the XIIth to XIIIth century. At Prevencheres, you can admire a 400 year old lime-tree and its roman church.

The harshest part of the hike are both the descent and the ascent back up from the Gorges of Chassezac. The view over the Gorges ans over Pied de Borne from La Garde-Guerin and the belvedere is stunning! You can also go up to the top of the medieval tower of the fortified village. At the centre of this village can be found the Regordane Inn; a splendid charming hotel with a courtyard and a beautiful dining room as well as a spiral rock staircase.
